About Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer??????s Association Walk to End Alzheimer??????sTM is the nation??????s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support, and research. It brings together family, friends, caregivers and concerned community members ?????? who all want to make a difference.

Since 1989, the Walk has raised more than $250 million to help those battling Alzheimer’s disease.

In 2011, the Alzheimer’s Association raised over $42 million nationwide, with more than?????$1,045,000?????contributed by the 15 walks held in Southeast Texas. More than?????1,100 teams?????and over?????10,000 Texans?????came out to show support for the Alzheimer’s Association Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter last fall!

    Please let me know what I need to do in order to either (1) start a team or (2) join a team. What happens if I can’t anyone to join my team? Is there a cost involved? How do I help raise money for research on this miserable disease, i.e. are there sponsor letters I send out?

    Hi Mary! Great questions. The first step is to visit our website, http://www.alztex.org/walk. There you can choose the Walk location and date that works best for you. When you register for the Walk, you’ll have the option to start your own team or join an existing team.

    If you can’t find anyone to join your team, you can always walk as an individual – but I think you’ll find getting people to join your team is easier than you think! There is no cost to register, and once you’re registered for the Walk you’ll have a personal fundraising webpage with a lot of great fundraising tools like sending emails directly from the site, posting to Facebook, etc.
