The Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason Program connects passionate race participants willing to raise funds and awareness for meaningful causes to the charity community.

Candace Adkins joined the ALZ Star Marathon team to run her first full marathon in honor of her great grandmother.

“Really my goal is to enjoy this first full marathon, to get a feel for this distance, and to hopefully raise some serious money for the cause.”

Though busy as a wife, mother of two, and a general manager of an amusement facility, Candace has found time to train in the early morning. She is also training for a relay in October, and hopes to run in a few ultra-marathons.

“I look forward to meeting other runners racing for the same cause and just in general. I follow so many local runners who will be racing and cannot wait to see everyone. I hope the city of Houston will come out in big support as usual for this event.  Having spectators cheering you on can be the driving force getting you to the finish line.”

It’s not too late to join Candace and become an ALZ Star runner!
