Despite this success, the Alzheimer’s Association still has many clinical trials ready and waiting for willing volunteers. More than 130 Alzheimer’s clinical studies are currently recruiting participants at 545 trial site locations nationwide.
Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death and the only disease in the top 10 causes of death without a way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, by 2050 this number could be as high as 16 million, the need for clinical trial volunteers is critical. Without adequate levels of volunteers, research and development of new treatments are slowed or even stopped Recruiting participants for clinical studies is one of the greatest obstacles in the development of a treatment or possible cure for Alzheimer’s.
