Now that you’ve registered your Walk team, what’s next? Hosting a Team Kickoff or fundraiser is a great place to start. Both events are a great way to let family, friends, and coworkers know that you’re participating in the Walk and raise awareness about Alzheimer’s.

Being a Walk to Alzheimer’s Team Captain can be a fun and exciting job! It’s a great way to take action in the fight against Alzheimer’s.  Here are a few tools and tips to ensure your Walk experience is easy going and rewarding.

• Set or update your team and personal fundraising goals – raising $1,000 gets your team a Champion sign along the Walk route. For every $100 raised by your team collectively, your team will receive a t-shirt (no more than the number of registered team members).
• Order your fundraising materials – these free items include posters, brochures and other Walk related promotional items to help you jump start your team’s fundraising.
• Customize your fundraising Web page – add a favorite photo and story to let others know why you’re walking in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
• Send personalized emails – invite friends, family and coworkers to support you or join your team.

Whether you’ve lost a loved one, currently caring for a loved one, or know someone with a connection; we all are connected to this disease. Each year, a number of family and friends teams return to continue the fight to a world without Alzheimer’s. Please check out The Holy Wild Family’s story and why they walk each year.

Are you ready to form a Walk to End Alzheimer’s team within your company? We have a number of tips to get your entire company on board to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Host a Lunch-and-Learn at your company. We provide the Alzheimer’s education your employees bring a bag lunch and donate the money they would’ve spent on going out to eat. Not only is this a great way to introduce your company to the Walk and organization, but also a great company fundraiser! Contact us at walk@alztex.org to schedule your company team kickoff!
