The Chevron Houston Marathon is less than 4 months away; you can register today through the Alzheimer’s Association ALZ Star Team!
The Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason Program connects passionate runners with the Alzheimer’s Association and other meaningful causes here in Houston. Runners who join the ALZ Star team can raise funds and awareness for our mission to end Alzheimer’s disease while also participating in the largest-single day sporting event in Houston.
Matt is a husband, father, guitarist, chef, oil & gas guy, and runner who moved back to Houston after living abroad for eight years.
In 2010 we moved to the Middle East, where we lived until 2018. It was really the opportunity to move home and help care for my mom who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2013.
Matt is running and raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association to honor his mother.
This has been a sad end to an incredible life as she was Chief of Psychiatric Emergency Room at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. She worked tirelessly for the people in her community who were slipping through the cracks. She saw 300,000+ patients in her career and trained 4,000+ residents and med-students. She always had their back and they have hers still. The major donors [for the marathon] last year came from the staff and med students who worked with my mother.
Matt’s advice and his goal for the 2020 Marathon is to train hard and finish strong.
Remember, there is a camera at the finish line. No matter how you feel you need to look up, raise your arms in victory and SMILE!
