Run in the Chevron Houston Marathon with ALZ Stars like Alyssa!

The Chevron Houston Marathon is filling up fast, but you can register today through the Alzheimer’s Association ALZ Star Team!

The Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason Program connects passionate runners with the Alzheimer’s Association and other meaningful causes here in Houston. Runners who join the ALZ Star team can raise funds and awareness for our mission to end Alzheimer’s disease while also participating in the largest-single day sporting event in Houston.

Alyssa is a junior at Southern Methodist University who loves spending time with her family, playing with her pets, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She is participating in the Chevron Houston Marathon for the first time and running with the ALZ Star team in honor of her grandparents.

” I am running in honor of my grandfather. He passed away in December after losing a battle with Alzheimer’s. Additionally, my grandmother, his wife, has struggled with dementia for years which has caused her to drastically alter her lifestyle. After watching two of my grandparents struggle with these diseases, I knew I had to do something to try to stop something life this from affecting others like it has my family.”

Alyssa has great tips for training and for raising funds and awareness for the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.

“I have found that sharing a bit about why I am running has been really successful. Also having a run buddy to run with and keep you accountable is really helpful!”

Join Alyssa and run for a reason by becoming an Alzheimer’s Association ALZ Star runner! Learn more and register at: Chevron Houston Marathon ALZ Star Page
