The Amarco Half Marathon is sold out and the Chevron Houston Marathon is almost full, but you can register today through the Alzheimer’s Association ALZ Star Team!
The Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason Program connects passionate runners with the Alzheimer’s Association and other meaningful causes here in Houston. Runners who join the ALZ Star team can raise funds and awareness for our mission to end Alzheimer’s disease while also participating in the largest-single day sporting event in Houston.
Joe keeps busy as a husband, father, and oil & gas industry business developer. He also stays involved in the community through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Council on Recovery, and the Dartmouth College Association of Alumni. This year will be Joe’s second year running the marathon as an ALZ Star.
Like many others, our family has been first-hand impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia. I am running on behalf of our loved ones and all those that have been touched by this disease, with fervent optimism towards finding a cure.
Although the marathon is still about two months away, Joe has already raised $1,000 for the fight to end Alzheimer’s! His fundraising strategy has been to open up about his connection.
Speaking to the personal connection towards the purpose opens up dialogue and conversation with others in a way that otherwise might not happen.
Here’s Joe’s advice for running in the marathon:
Start small and build up distance on a gradual basis. Join a running club or run with buddies to keep you motivated (and accountable).
